Belzona 1161 An epoxy-based repair composite for application to wet and oil contaminated metal surfaces.

Belzona 1161

Overview

A two-component metal repair and surface restoration material, reinforced with a silicon-steel alloy, 100 per cent solid (solvent-free) and formulated with an epoxy resin base to meet surface tolerances. This composite material has been specifically developed for use on wet, damp and oil-contaminated surfaces, as well as for underwater applications. It can be easily mixed and applied without the need for specialised tools and, once cured, can be readily machined using conventional tools (lathes, milling machines, etc.).

Benefits

Easy to Apply

Easy to mix and apply without specialist tools

Cold Cure

Cures at room temperature without hot work

Chemical Resistance

Outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals

Electrical Insulation

Excellent dielectric and insulation characteristics

Fully Machinable

Machinable using conventional tools after cure

Immersion Resistance

Bonds and cures underwater, including wet and oily surfaces

Applications

Application Areas
Leak Repair

Emergency and permanent repairs to active leaks in oil and water circuits.

Pump Keys and Impeller

Repair of pump keys and impellers that have suffered cavitation and corrosion damage.

Shafts and Axles

Repair of worn or cavitated shafts and spindles.

Wedge Sockets and Bearings

Repair of deformed wedge channels; repair of worn bearing seats.

Engine Blocks and Jackets

Repair of cracks in the main engine and auxiliary generator blocks, and rectification of corrosion and erosion damage to the cooling water jackets.

Flanges and Sealing Surfaces

On-site repair of corroded flange surfaces.

Tanks and Keys

Repair of cracks and holes in the fuel, ballast, waste water and fresh water tanks.

Propulsion and Steering Systems

Repair of cavitation damage to propeller blades.

Manoeuvring Systems:

Elimination of metal loss caused by cavitation in the housings and tunnels of bow thrusters.

Ship Sides and Underwater Hulls

Elimination of metal loss caused by cavitation in the housings and tunnels of bow thrusters.
